About the Event
Urban Imaginary of Parking Lots
Parking lots have come to be a ubiquitous phenomenon in contemporary cities. There is no escaping them as we navigate between home, work, places of leisure and public utilities. In this workshop, we will examine the locality of Shivaji Park, Dadar and come up with ways in which parking structures become part of community life & how they could potentially be re-imagined as reflecting the neighbourhood's long history and culture. This is going to be a hands-on workshop, so participants are encouraged to bring their laptops, drawing boards, writing material and any other tools they need to make creative work.
We will start by discussing a selection of photobooks from the JOJO Library & Bookshop before visiting the Parking Lot site and responding with our medium(s) of choice.
